We are 6 months into the current water year which began back on October 1st and the data is showing us a drier than normal pattern across southern Montana and a wetter than normal pattern across northern Montana.
The data reflects valley precipitation not mountain snowpack.
Because we are so dry right now caution is advised for those planning spring burning as conditions in the lower valleys are very dry.
