BILLINGS - Big Sky Honor Flight received a donation Sunday, that will help pay for three flights this spring and part of two flights in the fall.
The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Foundation donated $60,000 to Big Sky Honor flight, at West Park Village on Sunday. Along with $40,000 last year, the foundation has donated $100,000.
Matt Jones of BNSF made the presentation, which included veterans, supporters and Senator Max Baucus.
Two flights took 180 veterans to Washington last year, and the plan is to send three flights in the spring: April 21-22, May 19-20 and June 16-17. Two more flights could take veterans to see the World War II monument in the fall.
Each flight costs $155,000, and Big Sky Honor Flight has raise $580,000 for the spring trips.
Senator Max Baucus and Bill Kennedy, the chair of Big Sky Honor Flight, says another announcement is planned for Monday at 10 a.m. at Stockman Bank on King Avenue West in Billings.
