BILLINGS - Jeff Meier of Billings is recovering after being viciously attacked at his home Saturday morning.
Meier, a chiropractor, said he confronted a group of teenagers for attempting to break into his shed.
After chasing and detaining one male, part of the group returned and attacked Meier.
Meier briefly lost consciousness during the assault and when he came to, the teenagers were gone.
Meier and his wife, Kim, released the following statement on Monday:
We appreciate all the support and prayers from family, friends and strangers. We are trying to minimize the impact this is having on our family and would like to move on from this whole situation. We are thankful that things did not turn out worse, and we are choosing focus on healing and moving forward. We are hopeful that with the story being viewed that someone will do the right thing and step forward. Thank you once again to all those that have reached out to us.

Meier suffered a broken nose, cuts, bruises, and a chipped tooth.
The urge to protect your property is human nature, but the Billings Police Department urges residents to not take matters into their own hands and instead contact police.
"Remove yourself from the situation and just try to be a good observer," said officer Tom Keightley. "Try to get good notes on the vehicle and person's description so that even if they leave the area before we get there, you can always give us that information and help us out."
Keightley said there is no way of knowing if a suspect will react violently and that it's not worth risking your own safety to apprehend.
