Emergency crews have recovered a body from the Missouri River in Great Falls.
Search and rescue crews were dispatched at 12:15 p.m. on Friday after receiving a report that a person was in the river.
One witness tells us that she saw the body when kayaking the river.
Search and rescue crews rushed to the area between the 9th Street Bridge and the 15th Street Bridge.
The body of the person was recovered at about 12:45 p.m.
No information is available yet about the identity of the person, the cause of death, or how the body wound up in the river.
Initial reports indicate that the body is a man between the ages of 35 and 50 with tattoos.
We have reporters at the scene and will update you as we learn more.
This marks the third person who has been found in the river in Cascade County this week.
Ernest Gene Lamere, who rushed to help save two teens in the Missouri River on July 1st, died the next day after being pulled from the river by a nearby angler.
Wyatt Whitmore of Great Falls, 17 years old, drowned in the Missouri River on July 2nd while swimming with friends; his body was recovered on July 4th.
(UPDATE, 2:15 p.m.) Ashley White was kayaking on the river when she and her companion noticed the body. She said, "We paddled close enough to see it was a guy humped over and his head was in the water and he was wearing shorts."
White continued, "We paddled closer to shore and found some guys who had a cell phone and they ended up taking a kayak and paddling out to ensure it was what it was."
The Cascade County Coroner is conducting an investigation; authorities say they are looking for signs of trauma and and trying to determine how the person ended up in the river.
Rescue officials say they do not have any reports of missing people at this time.
