Bozeman business giving back to community with 26 days of kindness

BOZEMAN - A national movement to give back and show kindness to others has inspired a Bozeman restaurant to practice its own 26 days of kindness.

"I think it's a great idea, I think more people should be doing it," Over the Tapas customer, Matt Heinrich said.

Heinrich is talking about Over the Tapas working to give back to the Bozeman community. The idea came from a national trend known as 26 acts of kindness. At Over the Tapas, 10% of the sale of the daily specials is donated to local organizations.

"To jump into the mix and prove that Bozeman has a lot of needy organizations, and it's a way that we can help," says owner of Over the Tapas, Mark Bohnemann

One of the organizations receiving the generous gift from Over the Tapas is Thrive.

"You know we're always really excited when we have the opportunity to partner with some of Bozeman's greatest businesses. Over the Tapas, of course being one, so we're excited for the support financially and the promotion of our great work," says Thrive Development Director Chantel Scieffer.

This isn't the only act of kindness that can be found in Bozeman. On Facebook, Montana Ale Works talks about a pay-it-forward event where one customer paid for someone else's bill. Then that person paid for someone else. This event went on for three hours, with the last patron of the night, making a donation to a Bozeman non-profit organization.

"It's man, it's human kind at it's most basic instinct, just giving," says Heinrich.

"I think this happens every day in Bozeman, without people getting any publicity for it," adds Bohnemann.

The 26 days of kindness at Over the Tapas will end Jan. 23.
