BOZEMAN - Part of the popular Bozeman Creek road/trail will be closed from Oct. 22 to 25 for repair work.
The trail (Forest Service Trail 454) will reopen on Friday, Oct. 25.
The trail will be closed to the bridge that crosses Bozeman Creek where the junction with the trail leading to Mystic Lake is (about four miles from the Bozeman Creek Trailhead).
In 2012 the road sustained flood damage from the high level of runoff the area experienced. Heavy equipment is needed to make the necessary repairs creating a public safety concern.
"Heavy equipment will block the entire road while the repairs are being made," said Lisa Stoeffler, Bozeman District Ranger". "To help ensure public safety the trail is closed to everyone, including hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrian users."
There are other trail recreation opportunities nearby including Leverich Canyon, the Hyalite drainage trail system, and Bear Canyon for people to enjoy while the work takes place.
