Bozeman man accused of having sex with underage girl

BOZEMAN - A Bozeman man is accused of sexual intercourse without consent involving a 14-year-old girl.
Andrew Bilyeu, 18, appeared in Gallatin County Justice Court via video conference Thursday morning. Judge Rick West set his bail at $5,000.
The girl's step mother contacted police in late February and said her daughter told her she had been having sex with Bilyeu. She showed a detective Facebook correspondence in which Bilyeu reportedly says he had sex with the girl and knew that she was only 14 years old, court papers state.
On March 6, Bilyeu spoke with police. At that time he reportedly admitted to having sex with the girl multiple times and knowing that she was 14 years old at the time, court papers state. He also reportedly told police that he knows the age of consent for sexual intercourse is 16 years old.
Bilyeu is currently being held in the Gallatin County Detention Center.
