BOZEMAN - A Bozeman police officer shot a dog near Peet's Hill this morning.
Police responded to the Peet's Hill area where a transient was said to be camping with two dogs. When they arrived, one of the dogs started running towards the officers and that's when an officer shot the dog, according to Bozeman Police Captain Dave McManis.
The dog did not die. It was picked up by animal control and taken to a local veterinarian.
The transient could face several citations.
The trail, which is located north of Peet's Hill and runs between Church Avenue and the library, was closed while police investigated. The investigation was wrapping up at around 10:45 a.m.
