BOZEMAN - Just hours after Bozeman police witnessed a man shoot and kill himself on Main Street, they responded to a second suicide attempt at a Bozeman home this afternoon.
Bozeman police responded to a welfare check at South Brook Apartments at 20th Avenue and Dickerson Street at around 1:30 p.m. When they arrived, they knocked on the door, announced themselves then heard a shot, Capt. Dave McManis said.
The building was evacuated. When they entered the apartment, police found that a man had shot himself in the head, McManis said. The man was taken to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital by ambulance.
The incident lasted for about an hour.
This comes just 12 hours after police responded to an incident at West Main Street and 5th Avenue where, following an attempted traffic stop, a man crashed a Jeep Wrangler into a patrol car after going through a red light. The man then stopped in the middle of the 400 block of West Main Street, got out of the vehicle, put a gun to his head and shot himself, according to police.
The man in this morning's incident was taken to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, but did not survive. This happened at around 1:26 a.m. Wednesday. The man has not yet been identified.
