Butte-Silver Bow Commissioners are thinking about implementing a noise ordinance, according to Dave Palmer, commissioner for Butte-Silver Bow.

A noise ordinance will allow authorities to take control when noise complaints are called in, according to Palmer. Silver Bow County has never had an official noise ordinance in place.

Tenants of buildings in the Uptown Butte district say not having the ordinance is a drawback. Residents living in the Metals Bank building and the Sears building are frequently disrupted.

In major cities noise ordinances are based on a decibel meter. For the Uptown Butte District major events such as the Folk Festival and Evel Knievel Days would be exempt, Palmer said.
