A new center for manufacturing technology may be coming to Butte.
MSE Technology Applications held a meeting with local community and business leaders to discuss the establishment of the Montana Center for Manufacturing Technology.
This newly proposed center would be located in the existing MSE Technology Applications facility, south of Butte.
Two grant proposals have been submitted to establish the Montana Center for Manufacturing Technology.
New technology would be developed and assist manufactures in taking their businesses to the next level.
"Butte would become a hot bed of manufacturing," said Helen Joyce MSE Technology Applications Operations Director. "We would be duplicating such things as REC and SeaCast are doing and there would be good paying jobs for everybody. We would be training people at Montana Tech for those jobs and Butte's economy would be more diversified and therefore more stable and sustainable."
MSE Technology Applications should find out if they've been awarded any grants in September.
