A Butte man who pleaded guilty to methamphetamine charges will spend the next 4 years in prison.
Shawn Anthony Fernandez, 49, pleaded guilty to a conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute meth.
Court documents reveal that from Dec. 20111 to July 2012, Fernandez and others possessed meth with the intent to distribute in Butte and other places in Montana. The meth came from Las Vegas.
Fernandez was arrested on July 29, 2012 with approximately 110 grams of pure methamphetamine in the trunk of his vehicle and hidden in the bottom of a cereal box.
Interviews with witnesses and Money Gram records confirmed Fernandez' admission that he intended to distribute meth.
The investigation was a cooperative effort between the U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Homeland Security Investigations, the Butte-Silver Bow Law Enforcement, and the Drug Enforcement Administration Lab.
