Paul Babb has been the Butte-Silver Bow Chief Executive for two terms.
"Our community needs a leader that not only believes in Butte, somebody that's not only the face of the community, but somebody that has the experience to actually make it happen and I believe I'm that person," he says."
Babb has lived in Butte all his life.
He graduated from Montana Tech with a degree in Society and Technology Communications.
As soon as college was over he began his career path in economic development.
He has 4 years as a Councilor of Commission under his belt.
Babb says the time he spent on the commission gave him the tools he needed to run for Chief Executive.
Now he's ready for a 3rd run at the position.
"The main reasons that I'm running for Chief Executive is it's for Butte. The position is not about me, it's not about the people that work for local government, it's about what we can do for Butte, Montana," says Babb.
There are 3 main issues that Babb says he will continue to work on if he is elected for a 3rd term.
They include creating livable waged jobs and new businesses for economic development, establishing a clean environment and continue Superfund cleanup, and taking care of infrastructure.
Babb believes that switching gears to a different Chief Executive could slow things down for Butte.
We put together a team that is moving the community forward. It's something that we are seeing progress. We cannot afford to start over from scratch. We can't afford to be losing any amount of time.
Babb has worked for the Butte-Silver Bow Chamber of Commerce and was also involved in setting up Butte's first internet company.
