BUTTE - The 300 members of the Butte Teachers Union have ratified their new, two-year contract with Butte School District One.
After a two-day vote, 86 percent of the union members approved the new contract, according to Mike Kenison, negotiations chair with the union. Kenison said it's a "solid agreement."
The new contract provides union members with a 3.1 percent base salary increase for the 2013/2014 school year and a zero dollar increase for insurance.
The salary increase for 2014/2015 will be 1.5 percent with a $25 increase for insurance.
Kenison called the 29-round negotiation process very satisfactory.
The new contract takes effect Aug. 20.
