BILLINGS -September's highly anticipated FCS showdown between Montana State and reigning national champion North Dakota State could be falling apart.

North Dakota State Athletic Director Gene Taylor confirmed to WDAY-TV Saturday night that the September 7 game against MSU is "not likely to happen."

Taylor says the buy-out for MSU is $100,000 dollars. Montana State officials would not immediately comment on the report.

NDSU has won the last two national championships and beat the Bobcats in Bozeman during the 2010 playoffs.

Taylor says he's "disappointed in Montana State and upset for Bison fans." This is the second time MSU has bought out of a contract against North Dakota State. They also did it in 2009.

Montana State has yet to release its full 2013 football schedule.
