The Chinook Sugarbeeters have advanced in the USA Today "Most Unique Mascot" contest.
Last week, the Sugarbeeters were trailing the Pratt (KS) Greenbacks, but fans of the Hi-Line team rallied when voting resumed on Monday.
The Sugarbeeters racked up 2,767,229 votes, and the Greenbacks garnered 2,442,257.
The Sugarbeeters now move on to the next online voting round, which will begin at 9 a.m. (Montana time) on Thursday, March 21st and end at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27th.
The national winner of the competition will receive $2,000 for their athletic program and a banner. Second place receives $1,000, third place will be awarded $500, fourth receives $250 and fifth place will earn $100 toward the athletic department.
