BOZEMAN - Construction on a new hotel in downtown Bozeman could begin as early as next month.
Local developers plan to turn the old armory on Mendenhall Avenue into an 80-room hotel with a restaurant and gathering places.
The hotel, named the Etha, was approved by the city commission a couple of weeks ago. Plans call for a tower to be built on top of the armory that will rise eight floors.
The next step is securing a building permit, which could happen in July.
"Our expectation is that as soon as we have that building permit in hand, we'll be constructing, which will be a lot of internal construction that you won't see on the outside until about September, and that's when we're going to start going upward on the project," developer Cory Lawrence said.
The Etha could be completed by the end of next summer.
