BELGRADE - Safety procedures were put in place at Belgrade High School this morning while police investigated a burglary near the school.
The high school was placed into a "shelter in place," which is a safety procedure in which students continue classes. The building is locked and students are restricted to the building.
The burglary was reported in the evening hours of Wednesday, Feb. 6. When school started Thursday, police were still investigating the crime. School officials decided to put the school into a "shelter in place" due to the proximity of the alleged crime and rumors at that time of student involvement.
The release states that there was no known threat to the school or students and the "shelter in place."
The school is now operating normally.
The case is being investigated.
