MISSOULA - Authorities have released the name of the Missoula woman who died after being hit by an alleged drunk driver while she was walking on a sidewalk along North Fifth Street West.
Roberta Demmert, 39, a deaf mother of three children, died early Thursday, Missoula County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Paige Pavalone said.
Demmert and a woman walking with her were hit by a pickup truck driven by a man identified in court papers as Tom Vineyard, 38. The crash happened just before 1:30 a.m.
Vineyard has been charged with felony vehicular homicide while under the influence and felony negligent vehicular assault resulting in serious bodily injury. He is expected to appear in a Missoula courtroom on Thursday afternoon.
A woman walking with Demmert was also hurt in the crash and was taken to St. Patrick Hospital with what have been described as serious injuries, including a broken leg.
