BOZEMAN - A man escaped serious injury after crashing his Jeep into the river near Bozeman early Thursday.
The Montana Highway Patrol says a 32-year-old man visiting the area from California fell asleep at the wheel around 4 a.m.
He was driving south on Hwy 191 at around 60 miles per hour when he drifted off the left side of the road and hit a group of trees.
His 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee landed upright in the Gallatin River.
Officials were dispatched to the scene at around 5:34 a.m.
MHP Trooper Josh Brown says the man was wearing a seatbelt and walked away with only a minor knee injury.
