HELENA - A van crashed into a home in the Helena Valley on Wednesday morning, sending the driver to the hospital, but thankfully leaving a 3-year-old girl uninjured.
It happened at about 9:50 a.m. when the driver of the van, which was traveling on Roma Road near the intersection of Hillview Drive, blacked out for an unknown reason. That sent the van crashing into a home on the 8300 block of Hillview Drive.
The driver's 3-year-old daughter was properly restrained in the van during the time of the crash and is doing fine, according to Montana Highway Patrol Sgt. Jay Nelson.
"One of the owners was home at the time and heard a large bang. Luckily, he was not in the location of the house where the vehicle collided. He is uninjured and, obviously, in just a little bit of shock by what happened," Nelson said.
Nelson says that neither alcohol nor excessive speed appear to be factors at this time, but that will all be fully determined once the investigation is over.
The driver of the van was taken to St. Peter's Hospital. The nature and extent of the injuries has not been released.
