A grassroots movement is building excitement about former Governor Brian Schweitzer's possible candidacy to run for the US Senate.
The movement is called "Draft Brian Schweitzer" and is being led by Billings resident Sean Whiting.
The group has three simple goals - to gather 5,000 signatures state wide, recruit 500 state wide volunteers and raise $50,000.
There could be 2,000 signatures reached by this weekend.
Already 435 volunteers have signed up for support.
And $33,000 dollars has been raised.
Whiting says Butte was one of the first cities he wanted to stop to gain support for the movement.
"Butte is a unique place in the state, politically," Whiting said. "It's a wellspring of both support, both of just people coming and saying ‘hi' or people volunteering and that's why I've come to Butte for this."
Whiting's next stop will be Whitefish on July 3.
