It was never in doubt for Fairfield's basketball girls on Thursday afternoon.

The Class B Eagles cruised past Glasgow 55-19 and in the process set a new all-class state record for consecutive wins with 73 in the Northern B Divisional opener.

It breaks the old record set by Great Falls High School from 1980-1983.

Fairfield led Glasgow 16-0 after the first quarter, 24-4 at halftime, and 40-9 after three periods.

The defending State B champs play today's winner between Choteau and Wolf Point in Friday's 6:30 p.m. semifinal.

The last team to beat Fairfield was Malta in the 2010 state championship game.

The Eagles and M-Ettes could meet again Saturday night in Glasgow for the Northern B Divisional title.
