Renee Sippel-Baker and her family bought their house on the 4000 block of Sourdough Road in Bozeman 24 years ago. After trying to renovate, they finally decided to demolish it and start from scratch, however, they had a came up with a creative use for it first.
About a month ago, Renee contacted the RAE Sourdough Fire Department in Bozeman, wondering whether they could use the derelict house for training purposes. So from noon until sundown on Sunday, firefighters ran through a variety of drills, called 'breaching training'.
According to Sourdough Fire Chief JD Engle, "This is about as real as it can get other than the building being on fire, so we really appreciate the opportunity to do that, and this is something that you just can't duplicate in regular training at the station."
