BOZEMAN - Emergency crews from several agencies are fighting a fire along Dry Creek Road this afternoon.
The Gallatin County Sheriff's Department and firefighters from Central Valley, Bozeman, Rae Sourdough and Manhattan responded to the fire burning on private property in the area of mile marker 13 on Dry Creek Road. The fire has extended past the property boundary and jumped the road.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
Deputy Michael van Meter said he spoke with a neighbor who said local residents had a controlled burn, but that hasn't been determined to be the cause. There is also a power outage in the area, and van Meter says it is unclear at this time if the fire caused the outage or if there was an electrical problem that sparked the blaze.
As of 4:30 p.m., flames could still be scene and firefighters were continuing to fight the fire.
