A 4-year-old Washington boy was found murdered and his father is in custody in Anaconda-Deer Lodge.
Anaconda-Deer Lodge Law Enforcement officers were called to a local convenience store at around 10:30 p.m. Monday after a clerk reportedly saw a man trying to wash blood off his body and clothes in the restroom, according to a press release from authorities.
An investigation by Anaconda-Deer Lodge Law Enforcement determined that the man had left with his 4-year-old son from Lacey, Washington, likely as part of a custodial dispute.
The Anaconda-Deer Lodge Law Enforcement Agency found the man's vehicle five miles southeast of town on Montana Secondary Highway 569, but the 4-year-old was not found at the time. At daybreak Tuesday, authorities began searching again and found the boy's body. At the request of Anaconda-Deer Lodge Chief Tim Barkell, agents with the Division of Criminal Investigation at the Montana Department of Justice are assisting with the investigation.
Jeremy Brent Cramer, 38, of Lacey, Washington, is currently in custody on unrelated misdemeanor charges. Following an initial investigation and review of the case by the Deer Lodge County Attorney's Office, additional charges may be filed related to the death of the boy.
Numerous Montana Highway Patrol and Anaconda police vehicles as well as a Montana State Crime lab vehicle can be seen in the area. The county coroner arrived at the scene at around 2 p.m.
