HELENA - Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks biologists are still trying to figure out what's killing carp in Holter Reservoir.
Hundreds of dead carp have turned up on the surface of the lake over the last couple of weeks, prompting FWP to investigate.
Preliminary test results are inconclusive, but we're told bacteria may be to blame. The fish were found in the Gates of the Mountains and American Bar area of the reservoir.
No other species of fish are being affected, and wildlife officials say they are not aware of any similar incidents on the Missouri River.
