Gallatin County Commissioner Bill Murdock is retiring.

According to Commissioner Steve White, Murdock gave the remaining commissioners his letter of resignation Thursday. His last day will be April 18.

Murdock was elected to the commission back in 1997. His current term runs through December of 2014. Commissioner White says that he and Commissioner Joe Skinner immediately notified the Republican Party who will now choose three people to replace Murdock. Skinner and White will choose the replacement from those three. If they cannot agree on a replacement, the Republican Party will give them three more from which to choose.
