Gallatin County healthiest in the state: but more work to do

For the 4th year in a row Gallatin County is ranked the healthiest county in Montana. The rankings looks at physical activity, smoking and infant marotality rates and much more. While its good news, Matt Kelley, health officer with the Gallatin City County Health Department says many people living here are falling through the cracks. "We have a substantial number of people who are living without insurance who are.. because of that are cut off from the health system in important ways." said Kelley.

Kelley says that 22% of working age adults to do not have health insurance. Kelley points out that many people who are living under the poverty line are not as healthy as the rest of the County. He says they have higher rates of obesity and often do not seek preventative care.
