Alice Mae (Todd) Gilchrist passed away peacefully Friday, August 23, 2013 in Helena, MT surrounded by her family.
She was born October 16, 1925 in Bozeman, MT to Lester H. & Alice (Burkenpas) Todd. Alice lived in Bozeman her entire life except for the last 8 years when she moved to Helena to be closer to her daughter. She attended Bozeman schools & graduated from Gallatin County High School. After high school she worked at Montana State College. She married the love of her life Ralph Lee Gilchrist on June 16, 1946 in Bozeman, MT at Grand Ave. Christian Church. After raising her family she returned to work at MSU in the Alumni office until she retired.
Alice was a wonderful homemaker making everyone feel welcome in her home. She was active in family activities as well as her church, Camp Fire Girls, many Masonic organizations. She was always a willing & friendly helper for all who needed her. She will be remembered as a gracious lady & true friend to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents & her husband Ralph. She is survived by her two daughters, Darlene Gilchrist of Helena & Denise Sallee (Loren) of Kalispell, MT. She also leaves her two special grandchildren, Katrina(Sallee) Hubner (Mike) of Belgrade & Travis Sallee (Sandy) of Kalispell. Also, her extra special loves, her great grandchildren Shaphan & Molly Hubner & Cielo & Isabella Sallee. She is survived by her sister Theresa Sabo of Billings, special friends Linda & Cliff Roessner, many nieces, nephews & cousins & friends.
Graveside services will be held 10:30 am, Tuesday, August 27, at Sunset Hills Cemetery followed by a time to greet the family at the basement of Alice's church, Grand Ave Church. Memorials may be made to The Buddy Walk for Down syndrome (www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/mollyhubner) or the Gallatin County Historical Society.
