LIVINGSTON - The very first step was taken toward actual construction of a new Livingston hospital and clinic on Friday afternoon.
There were cheers as ground was broken for the new $43.5 million, 115,000 square foot facility.
It's being built as an affiliated part of the Billings Clinic.
Livingston Healthcare says the new hospital will be state of the art and promises to improve patient service and quality of health care in Park County. Doctors who will be working at the new hospital agreed at Friday's ceremony.
Dr. Scott Coleman with Livingston Healthcare said, "This new technology will give us the tools, the space, a healing environment and so much more that will allow us to take care of patients to the very best of our ability."
A new access to the hospital is planned off Highway 89 and it's expected to open near the end of 2015.
