VIRGINIA CITY - The 14-year-old boy accused of bringing guns into a Harrison school late last month is receiving mental health treatment.

The teen was absent for his detention hearing in Madison County Monday morning.

A juvenile probation officer and the county attorney told the court that he had just been entered into a treatment facility and they did not want to pull him out for the hearing.

According to Monday's testimony, the teen had undergone a mental health evaluation at the request of his parents before the incident at Harrison School.

In court, the boy's probation officer said he will be undergoing a second mental health evaluation in the treatment facility.

Court documents state that it is too early to decide the course of the case until the treatment is complete.

On Jan. 25, in what court documents say was a political statement, the teen reportedly brought two guns into the school, intending to prove that you don't need an assault rifle to carry out a school shooting.
