After closing two wolf hunting districts north of Yellowstone National Park, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is being sued by sporting groups, Citizens for Balanced Use and Park County. The suit claims that the state did not give adequate public notice before closing the districts in December.
Fish, Wildlife and Parks closed the districts, citing that a buffer zone would protect radio collared wolves used for research. According to FWP, some were already killed before the buffer zone was established.
Park County District Judge Nels Swandal scheduled a hearing for 3 p.m. today in Park County District Court.
