HELENA - The devastating tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut has motivated Savanna Townsend of Helena to take action to help those affected in this heartbreaking time.
Savanna is helping to organize a teddy bear drive to help give a piece of comfort to the children affected.
She said that they hope to collection 1,000 new teddy bears between now and Dec. 28.
"Teddy bears would be a good way to show them that there's still good people out there, they just need something to hold onto and have that comfort. And then we weren't sure, we wanted something for the adults, we thought maybe the survival bracelets that they make would be great, so that they have something too, to kind of keep them comforted," she said.
Donations can be made at the Comfort Suites located at 3180 North Washington Street in Helena.
They are also welcoming cash donations to help pay for shipping and to make bracelets for those adults who were also affected.
For more information, call Savanna at 406-422-8367.
