LINCOLN COUNTY - A man hiking with a friend near Libby had to be rescued after falling and breaking his leg in a very steep area.
Lincoln County Undersheriff Brent Faulkner says 911 received a call for help Saturday at 5:40 p.m.
The two were hiking near Williams Creek a couple hundred yards off Highway 2.
Multiple agencies responded and a landing zone for Sandpoint Life Flight was set up, temporarily closing the highway.
"Libby Volunteer Fire cut some trees out of the way and David Thompson Search and Rescue was able to use some steep bank rope-rescue techniques to lower the patient down the bank to the highway," Faulkner said.
The 53-year-old Libby man was transported by ground ambulance to St. Johns Hospital in Libby.
