KALISPELL - Police in Kalispell are investigating a Monday night shooting that sent a woman to the hospital and put her husband behind bars facing a charge of attempted homicide.
Emergency dispatchers were notified just before 11 p.m. that a woman had just been shot by her husband, who then left the residence.
The Kalispell Police Department and the Flathead County Sheriff's Office responded to the area, where police chief Roger Nasset said, the woman was found just outside her residence with multiple gunshot wounds.
The man, identified as 39-year-old Steven Michael Foley of Kalispell, was found several blocks away from his residence by the sheriff's deputies.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where Nasset said she underwent emergency surgery and was listed in critical condition as of early Tuesday.
Foley was taken into custody and is being held at the Flathead County Detention Center.
