Incumbents ousted in Butte-Silver Bow races for sheriff, chief executive

BUTTE - With 125 provisional ballots left to count in Butte-Silver Bow, several key races are being called.

Early numbers show there's an upset in the race for Butte-Silver Bow Sheriff with challenger Ed Lester winning over incumbent John Walsh. Lester captured 9,880 votes while Walsh got 6,408 votes.

Incumbent chief executive Paul Babb also lost his bid for reelection. Babb lost to Matt Vincent. Vincent grabbed 8,249 votes to Babb's 8,096.

In the race for city judge, Glen "Geeg" Granger captured 7,951 votes while Daniel Sweeney got 7,700 votes.

D.J. O'Neill - 3,675

State Representative District 73:

Pat Noonan - 2,777

Gary Wold - 1,421

State Representative District 74:

Ryan Lynch - 2,664

Max Yates - 2,202

State Representative District 75:

Edie McClafferty - 2,852

Greg Miller - 1.062

Voters also overwhelmingly voted to retain Judge Kurt Krueger and Judge Brad Newman.
