BUTTE-A jury found a Butte man guilty of stabbing another man multiple times during a car ride.

Michael Root, 34, is convicted of attempted deliberate homicide with an enhancement charge of using a weapon in commission of a crime.

Last July Root was riding in a vehicle with Lawrence Lee, 46, of Butte.

Root stabbed Lee in the neck and left arm and cut the left thumb.

He could face up to 110 years in prison for the charges, plus another 100 for being a persistent felony offender.

After the verdict was read the defense raised a potential issue for appeal.

An appellate defenders office will handle any appeal after sentencing.

A pre-sentence investigation will be finished before a sentencing can be scheduled.
