Bozeman police tell KBZK-TV that the driver of a car which hit a pedestrian Wednesday afternoon in downtown Bozeman will be charged with reckless driving.
Reporter Judy Slate says police told her that the driver of the car was from Idaho and was traveling south on Tracy and attempted to turn left onto Main Street when the pedestrian was hit. Police say the pedestrian was in the crosswalk and crossing with the light when struck.
Officers say they believe the driver was distracted at the time of the accident and failed to see the pedestrian. Witnesses at the scene say the victim is an elderly woman, who has now been transported to the hospital.
The accident was first reported about 12:50 Wednesday afternoon. 35 minutes later the eastbound lanes of Main Street, where the accident occurred, were cleared and traffic was beginning to move again.
Another pedestrian was hit in an unrelated incident in the same area, at about the same time. Police say that accident was much less serious.
