A lightning caused fire was detected six and a half miles west of Silver Star in the Highland Mountains- a mile north of Hells Canyon Cabin.
Detected on Saturday, the Hells Canyon Fire is burning at 125 acres and is zero percent contained.
A total of 93 personnel are fighting the fire currently and good progress was reported on the eastern, southern and western edges of the fire on Sunday.
The northern portion is burning in beetle infested pine and contains significant amount of snags and dead or dying trees.
Firefighters are aiming to keep the fire north of FS Road 9381, west of Billy Johns Trail, east of Hells Canyon Creek and south of White Pipe Ridge.
