BUTTE - A lockdown warning for the North Campus at Montana Tech was sent out by mistake late Wednesday morning.

The message about the lockdown was sent to students, campus employees and police. The message was intended to be a test but was sent instead as a real warning. The text of the message read, "Montana Tech Alert: All buildings on north campus in lockdown. Lock doors, stay away from windows and doors, turn off lights. More information to follow." It was sent just after 11 a.m.

The mistake was discovered shortly after 11:30 and the all clear was given. Police who responded quickly left the campus area.

Reporter Shannon Davis is on the Tech campus attempting to talk to administration officials about the mistake.
