Man accused of hurling pipe bombs at officers during pursuit pleads not guilty

GREAT FALLS - A Virginia man accused of throwing pipe bombs from his vehicle at law enforcement officers during a chase that ended in Cacade County entered not guilty pleas on Thursday to the charges against him.

Laurence Alan Stewart II is facing three charges of attempted deliberate homicide, criminal endangerment and being a fugitive from justice.

On Nov. 1, Stewart was arrested near Belt after a high-speed chase that started in Judith Basin County.

Stewart reportedly threw pipe bombs at the pursuing officers during the chase.

At the time of his arrest, Stewart had 13 active warrants, including attempted murder charges in his home state of Virginia.

He's currently being held in Cascade County, with bail set at $2 million.
