The Roosevelt County Sheriff's Office confirmed at 1:10 a.m. that wreckage of the plane piloted by Darin Brown had been discovered in rural McCone County.
Brown did not survive.
Authorities do not yet know what caused the plane to crash and are continuing their investigation.
(Saturday night) A private airplane was reported missing Saturday, April 6, after taking off from a rural airstrip northwest of Wolf Point.
The Roosevelt County Sheriff's Office reported that Darin Ray Brown, 38, took off from Brown Farms at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday headed to Yellowstone County.
His flight plan indicated that he intended to fly toward Circle then west to a farm at 8386 Coakley Road near Acton, 15 miles northwest of Billings.
Brown was last heard from between 10:45 and 11 a.m. when he talked to his wife, who is in Acton, while flying over Wolf Point.
The plane, a Cessna 182, has a blue and white tail and the tail number is N8721T.
The plane was reported missing at 2:45 p.m. and a search via the air began.
