BILLINGS - The Montana Highway Patrol reports that a Billings man has died at St. Vincent Healthcare following a rollover crash near Joliet on Tuesday.

The MHP says that the 61-year-old man was traveling alone in a Ford Ranger when the vehicle went off the left side of the road, rolled onto the passenger side, and struck an embankment.

The wreck happened at mile marker 2 on Coal Creek Road, just northeast of Joliet.

The report came in at 9:16 p.m. on Tuesday.

The MHP report said the roads were icy, and speed was a factor in the crash.

The man had to be extricated from the pickup truck. He was taken to Joliet in an ambulance, where he was then picked up by a helicopter and flown to St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings where he later died.

He has been identified as 61-year-old Stephen Footit.
