GREAT FALLS - A man is in police custody after a standoff that lasted more than two hours in Great Falls this morning.
The man was reportedly armed and suicidal and had barricaded himself in a building at 316 Central Avenue.
The incident began at about 8 a.m. The GFPD high-risk unit and Great Falls Fire Rescue were dispatched.
Several people in nearby apartments were asked to evacuate, and roads in and around the area were briefly blocked.
The man's name has not yet been released.
The City of Great Falls Emergency Management Office sent out the following message at 9:55 a.m.: Alert: Everyone near Central Ave between 3rd & 4th St. should be aware of police activity involving a barricaded subject. Plz stay away.
