BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA - A man wanted in connection with a kidnapping and shooting was taken into custody in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Mitchell Lee Walck, 57, is accused of shooting at an Idaho State trooper during a traffic stop on Saturday then kidnapping a woman from her home in Rathdrum, Idaho. She was released unharmed in Glendive.
Walck was thought by authorities to be in Montana.
Bismarck police got a call from a citizen reporting an unlawful entry into his semi-truck. The victim said while the semi was parked unattended, a male entered it and was in the sleeper cab, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office. When the victim entered his truck, the suspect reportedly pulled a gun on him then fled on foot.
The suspect led Bismarck police on a footchase and took him into custody.
Walck is facing charges in North Carolina for assault with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, eluding and unlawful entry. He was also arrested on a kidnapping warrant from Kootenai County.
The stolen Subaru belonging to the kidnapping victim was recovered in the area.
