KALISPELL - A Marion man, who shot a man last month, nearly killing him, has pled not guilty.
51-year-old Paul West was charged with felony assault with a weapon, after shooting 34-year-old Jason Guymon in the back twice during an altercation.
According to court documents, West followed a man to Guymon's house, after the man had ridden his horse onto some private property.
Guymon came out of his house, wielding a shotgun, and both him and West fired their weapons.
Eventually, West shot Guymon when he had his back turned to him.
Guymon was taken to KRMC, and then later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center for emergency surgery.
West is currently out of jail, on bond. His jury trial is set for February.
