MISSOULA - There's some good news to report in the search for a woman who was reported missing by friends after floating on the Clark Fork River in Missoula on Sunday.
Authorities tell us that Samantha French, 20, is safe after apparently getting a ride home after becoming separated from her friends in the Kona Ranch area.
Missoula County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Paige Pavalone says the University of Montana student was floating with a group of about 10 people when she became separated from her friends while walking along the shore.
French's friends looked for her around 9 p.m. on Sunday and then called 9-1-1 for help. Rescuers searched for the woman from midnight until 4 a.m., but didn't find the woman. Officers also went to French's home Sunday night and Monday morning and she was not there.
Crews had just begun searching for French again on Monday morning when they were told their services were no longer needed.
