MISSOULA - An 11-year-old girl came home from school and found a burglar inside of her Rattlesnake home on Wednesday.

Authorities say the incident happened in the 100 block of Columbine Road when the girl came home and found a woman upstairs in one of the bedrooms. Police say the woman told the girl she came into the home because there was a man outside with a gun. The woman then left the house and the girl ended up calling her mother who came home and found some of her jewelry missing.

The only description that the Missoula Police Department has right now is that a white female, about 5'7"to 5'9" tall was in the home.

Police say there was no sign of forced entry, and the owners told investigators it wasn't uncommon for the house to be left unlocked. Authorities say this incident serves a reminder that people to lock their homes.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Missoula Police Department at (406) 552-6300 or Crimestoppers at (406) 721-4444.
