MISSOULA - 31-year-old Michael Scott Burke is being charged with robbery and criminal possession of dangerous drugs. Prosecutors say during the armed robbery, Burke allegedly told the pharmacist if she didn't hurry, he'd jump over the counter and hurt her.
Investigators say Burke walked into the Walgreen's on Brooks Street armed with a pistol and demanded Oxycontin.
A Missoula Police officer spotted Burke leaving the store in his Lexus and followed him after learning about the robbery. Burke ended up leading officers on a chase that reached speeds of up to 120 MPH. Lake County deputies flatted Burke's tires with spike strips just outside of Arlee and Burke then took off on foot.
After law enforcement searched for him for several hours, Burke finally surrendered to officers.
Officers asked a judge for a search warrant, after they saw the pills and the clothes Burke was described wearing during the robbery inside of his car.
Burke is now in jail on a $150,000 bail.
